Only few hours left until the 10th International OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO 2016, which will take place once again at Molos in Limassol, on Sunday 10th April 2016, from 07:30 hrs to 14:30 hrs.
The International OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, is part of an Annual Race series which take place in Limassol, Cyprus. It was first run in 2006 and this years is closing 10 years. It started just ten years ago with the participation of just 70 athletes and, this year, it will surpass 10,000 entries, as the last six years have been a very successful collaboration between city authorities like the Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce, the Limassol Tourist Development Company, the GSO (town’s sports association) and the private sector.
The International OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, is the official Marathon of Cyprus, and the island’s largest sports event! This year, it turns 10 Years Old and thus proceeds with a series of changes which will result to an upgrade of services provided to runners with a high standard and unforgettable Marathon experience.
More than 10.000 runners participating being held throughout the world every year, this weekend’s Limassol will try to stand out from the rest. The race will be held along the coastline on a route almost entirely straight with four main races to choose from: a full Marathon Race, a half Marathon Race, a 10 km Petrolina Health Race, 5 km City Race, 5 km Primetel Corporate Race and McDonald’s 1 km Kids Race.
The International OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO 2016 will be as follows:
the Marathon Race at 07:30 hrs
the Half-Marathon, the 10 km Petrolina Health Race, the 5km City Race and the 5 km PrimeTel Corporate Race at 09:00 hrs
the McDonald’s 1 km Kids Race at 12:00 hrs
The flat nature of the route is optimal for newly introduced members of the Marathon community, as well as for professionals who want to improve their personal times. The route follows Limassol’s Mediterranean coastline, offering a challenging but beautiful course for runners to reach and exceed their personal record.
The seaside road along the race course from the Le Meridien Hotel up to the New Port Traffic Lights will be closed to vehicular traffic from 07:30 hrs to 14:00 hrs.
