Celebrities such as Peter Andre’s brother Chris sing at all the hotels; they encompass the quality that Kanika aims to provide. For 2014, Kanika introduces Joel Jones, whose stylish, seductive voice serenades the crowd with his repertoire of Classic, Swing and Motown. On other evenings, the audience are treated to an extravaganza of song and dance courtesy of Chicago Rouge, The Jersey Boys, Michael Bublé tribute, Rock around the Clock show, Flashback through the Decades and the All Star Movie and Theatre awards, with musicals spanning Lion King, Joseph and Grease. The artists themselves are hand-picked from UK-wide auditions by Claire, and though the selection process is strenuous and the rehearsals gruelling, the final quality makes it all worthwhile.
Many people choose hotels for their activities and entertainment, and these are certainly among the highlights of the Kanika experience. In fact, according to tour operators’ feedback questionnaires, Kanika entertainment has been proven the best on the island for two years in a row now.
But as much as the All Stars deliver excellence, they need great facilities and training to shine at their brightest. It is the job of Jonathan Carter, who helps Claire perfect the shows, to inspect each purpose-built, high-tech venue.
He notes: “The lighting design, tailored to each show, gives a magical effect to the stage with screen projections, spotlights, dynamic colours and a West End glamour style. This technology is updated every season to bring the very best in audio-visual effects for Kanika guests to enjoy.”
Ultimately, the shows take you to a place beyond the stage, and as one guest wrote on TripAdvisor: “The Kanika All Stars – wow these guys are brilliant; morning to night non-stop energy and entertainment – all of them wouldn’t be amiss on the stage or in the charts, it’s that good!”
