This April, a brand-new show enters the Kanika spotlight to thrill the whole family. Bursting with magic and excitement, Le Mystique draws inspiration from the popular Moulin Rouge musical. The show opened on Broadway in 2019 before debuting in London’s West End in 2022. An electrifying musical, it’s based on the namesake Baz Luhrmann film that follows the life of a young poet, Christian, who falls in love with a cabaret actress named Satine in the famous Moulin Rouge. Set in Paris’ Montmartre Quarter during the early 20th century, the show is renowned for its energetic performances, elaborate set design, and use of modern pop songs.
Over the past six months, the talented Kanika Hotels & Resorts entertainment team has been busy preparing for its very own fabulously flamboyant, magically mystical, soul-stirring Moulin Rouge-inspired dance spectacular. And it promises to whisk audiences away on an unforgettable journey into a surreal world of seductive colour, glamour, glitz, and glory.
“We spent a long time creating the concept for the show and then writing and recording the music. We then trained a group of musicians, planned out the choreography, and created custom-made costumes,” explains Group Entertainment Manager, Claire Stephanou. “A talented group of highly-skilled professionals has joined creative forces to make the magic happen. Our expert musical director, choreographer, costume designer, performers, musicians, and other team members have really poured their heart and soul into a performance set to surpass all expectations.”
The show features ten Kanika All-Stars performers, all hand-picked and highly trained in musical theatre. The performers are accompanied on stage by a five-piece band, determined to elevate your Cyprus holiday entertainment with an alternative take on the smash hit Moulin Rouge soundtrack. From ‘Lady Marmalade’ to ‘Sparkling Diamonds and ‘Chandelier’, you’ll be tempted to sing (or shimmy) along from start to finish!
