Cyprus saw 3.1 million tourists visiting the island in the 2016. You don’t really need much convincing why Cyprus is the perfect destination for you. Apart from the breathtaking views, rich in history, safety and gastronomy, Cyprus has so much to offer.
An island where the goddess of love and passion was born, Aphrodite is just one of many activities you can do when you arrive. We would like to share with you a few tips for your next visit to the island.
If you are staying in Limassol, Paphos or Ayia Napa we recommend you hire a car to be able to drive around the country. There is a complimentary publication Authentic Cyprus which you can get for free at any tourist office. It describes 15 car journeys in great detail and the passenger doesn’t have to be a skilled navigator.
The first thing you should buy is a local SIM card. You can buy a SOEASY card by a local network company, CYTA. You can find this sim cards everywhere, at the airport, mini markets or small kiosks. It will cost you €5 and you will be able to use Google Maps, your social networks and stay in touch with your family and friends. It will be much cheaper for you to use rather using your local provider.
If you are a last minute person and don’t want to book a taxi in advance, you can always find taxi drivers at Larnaka Airport or Paphos Airport. We suggest you book your taxi driver by contacting your hotel in advance so you have a peace of mind.
The currency in Cyprus is Euro, you can change your currency in your country or when you arrive to Cyprus at any bank or exchange office.
We suggest going out of your “comfort zone” and exploring this island rather than sticking to the popular tourist towns such as Pafos and Agia Napa. If you hired a car, drive to the mountains, explore the island. If you don’t rent a car for €2 (£1.60) you can buy a bus day ticket. Master the time tables, and enjoy. If you’re in the harbour and need a coffee, the Hospice shop will not disappoint.
Speaking of comfort zones, how about hiring a jeep and exploring remote parts of the island like the Akamas Peninsula? Make sure the jeep has air-conditioning because you will need it. Do something different by learning a new skill whilst you are here. You can try diving, rock-climbing, water-skiing or paragliding.
You can try mountain biking as well and if it sounds daunting, we’ve heard of one company that operates an “uplift service”. They drop you off at a high point which means all you have to do is point the boke downhill and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our team members at all our hotels will be able to help you book anything you like.
If you decide that you want to stay at one of Kanika’s Hotels and Resorts and all you want to do is swim and enjoy the breath-taking views that’s absolutely fine. We have plenty of activities at our hotels and resorts that you will enjoy.
There you have it, plenty of activities to do while you visit this beautiful island. In the meantime, you can like our Facebook Fan page or our Instagram Page and follow us for updates and inspiration.
